Co-Mmunity
Co-Mmunity assists with self-administering a vaccination within the safety of your home.
As a person who fears self-injecting medication for Crohn’s disease, I wanted to create a device that would alleviate the phobias associated with self-injections. Research shows that approximately 25% of the population has a fear of receiving an injection from a health care professional. As self-injections are becoming more prevalent, I wanted to make a device that would address this growing population. For example, research shows that auto immune disease, which often require self-injection are rising globally. Approximately 8% of the world’s population has an auto immune disease.
The self-vaccination kit enables patients to administer a vaccination by strapping the device around their leg and locking the injector pen into the device. The patient would first sterilize the injection site with an alcohol swab. Next the patient inserts the injector pen and locks the mechanism in place. By stabilizing the injector pen, the patient only needs to push the injector activation button.
