The building sector in India consumes close to 40% of the electricity, which is expected to increase to 76% by 2040. The demand for air conditioners in India is expected to grow from 3.8 million a year to 6.2 million in 2020-21. Ether aims to combat this growing need for electricity with innovative personal cooling & air purifying solution. It reduces the carbon footprint of cooling systems by incorporating natural materials, zero plastics and zero refrigerants. It consumes 20% energy compared to other modern air conditioner systems. ETHER is designed considering the concept of managing the micro-climate for a user, i.e. providing the user required temperature and humidity within close proximity. By doing so, we eliminate the amount of energy required to cool down an entire room using an air conditioner. ETHER uses the capillary action of terracotta to create evaporative cooling and water remains cool inside. Hence the cool water inside causes ambient temperature to drop.
