Free up airport terminal space
Resolving the issue of wheelchairs cluttering airport terminal space.
Wheelchairs are starting to consume an extra-ordinary amount of space in airport terminals (refer to the secondary image below of wheelchairs at Orlando Internal Airport). This phenomena is driven by a western population that is aging and also becoming more obese (certainly in the USA). Our wheelchair and seating (docking station) designs are intended to free up airport space currently used to "park" wheelchairs not in use and to integrate "able-bodied" and "handicapped" seating.
Our solution means a total redesign of the airport wheelchair and also traditional airport seating. "Our" airport wheelchair can be used by non-handicapped passengers for seating in terminal airport areas when not in use (a red "in use" or "reserved" indicator on the wheelchair will guide its availability). Our "docking station" design for seating means that families who are traveling with someone in a wheelchair can now sit together in the same area resulting in a more inclusive traveling experience.
