Atelier Badem
The atelier is specialised in designing handmade bags which are sustainable in design and use.
The focus of the atelier is found in the crossover between design, user and environment. Atelier Badem addresses the sour spot of sustainable design where no system is sustainable if the end-user does not take responsibility of their belongings. Through means of design, Atelier Badem stimulates the connection between user and design. Several topics are embedded in the design strategy to stimulate a healthy and sustainable relationship with the product, like the use of waste material, remanufacturing, inspiration derived from mass-industry systems (time and waste efficiency), incorporated packaging design, versatile use and the made to order principle. Despite the heavy duty waste materials, the bags are tranquil and invite everyday use, wether to work, grocery shopping or visiting an exhibition opening. The waste materials are crafted into authentic and quality handmade products in Amsterdam. The collection mirrors the topicality of our overproduction but stimulates reconciliation.
