Kialo
A debate platform powered by reason
Kialo, Esperanto for “reason”, is a website that wants to be a hub for civilised debate — no shouting, rudeness or irrationality allowed. Topics debated range from whether there should be a Universal Basic Income to questioning if science is political and churches should pay tax, to "The US should not have pulled out of the Iran deal" and "Should "Women-only" spaces be open to anyone identifying as female?". For everyday debaters, schools and universities, access is free, but also more and more companies and governments show interest to use the tool for their inernal discussions and decision-making because the structure is intuitive. It is not allowed to just comment eg. "I agree" without making a constructive point. Contributers can rank by voting on claims and counterclaims, however based on their impact, not amusement or outrage. "The web became ideal for bad conversation, with prominence given to the most outrageous ones - can't there be a better method of online discourse?"
