Finger Reader
FingerReader is a finger device that tells to the user what he is pointing to.
FingerReader is a wearable assistive augmentation that consists of a finger-worn camera, vision algorithms and speech I/O that allows the user to simply point at something to perform a recognition and interpretation task on what the camera sees and hear the result spoken to him or her. For example, it could assists blind users in reading printed text on the go. Text pointed at with the index-finger tip is recognized and translated into speech. To assist text navigation and effectively explore documents, it provides guidance through audio and tactile feedback. FingerReader has applications beyond blind community, such as learning aid for sighted children of people with dyslexia.
