Threelloons
The Threelloon makes visible the hidden phenomenon of breath tuning among people.
The project was born from an investigation on time as a social entity and on the capability of the human body to finely tune its pace, both physically and behaviorally, to the one of the surrounding people. In fact, as the anthropologist Edward T. Hall said, time is like a hidden language silently regulating all human interactions. We don't often realize what a deeply rooted social animal we are! The Threelloon is an intuitive and playful object aimed at materializing and providing a physical experience of a hidden phenomenon: the synchronization of the breathing pace among a group of people. This balloon with three nozzles requires three people to be inflated. A rather difficult task, unless the participants coordinate their breath. However this happens almost naturally thanks to the proximity they are forced into. Since 2010 few hundreds people around Europe have blown a threelloon (http://goo.gl/aPSmB3), in an attempt of breaking boundaries and encouraging people to come together.
