As wheelchair users in developing countries are among the poorest of the poor, few of them can afford imported wheelchairs, and few wheelchairs are fit for use in the extreme mountainous terrain of the country. The RoughRider is designed to be built from locally available materials, using simple tools and without requiring large initial capital investments. In addition, the RoughRider is specially designed for the rough urban and rural conditions of developing countries.
