HOLOSCOPE-i™
3D holographic imaging for interventional clinical procedures

Heart disease and cancer are two of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. The planning and treatment of the two - by surgery and minimally invasive techniques - are wholly dependent on thorough understanding of the anatomy and complex spatial relationships within the patient’s body. Navigation of catheters and implantation of devices in the dynamic 3D landscape, found inside the patient, demands extreme accuracy to achieve success and avoid complications

HOLOSCOPE-i™ is a high-resolution, accurate, live 3D hologram, floating in the air at a hand’s reach in real time. With the HOLOSCOPE-i™, the clinician gains a more intuitive understanding of complex anatomy and dynamic physiological processes with increased confidence. The clinician gets the freedom for unbounded interaction with and within the image (for example a growing fetus or a beating heart): zoom, rotate, slice, mark and measure, all in true space. All of these are enhancing the ability to plan and perform interventions, enabling safer and faster procedures with improved patient outcomes.

It may once have seemed the stuff of science fiction, but holographic surgery is only a heartbeat away from becoming reality. The first system will be deployed in 2017 at one of the largest medical centers in North America, with a planned significant sales ramp up in 2018. The future is here.
