Lift - Reimagining Homecare
LIFT makes the jobs of care workers more motivating and engaging, increasing their quality of life.
For my final project at the Royal College of Art I looked at how we might improve the quality of life for care workers in home care in the UK by making their professional life more engaging, motivating and fulfilling, considering the benefits such as better quality of care, increased morale and decreased employee turn-over. At the core of this proposition are small flexible teams of care workers, planning their working day on their own using mobile technology and "carer credits" that provide feedback and recognition. Since my graduation in June 2014 I teamed up with others to evolve this project and bring it to live. Our goal is to improve the wellbeing of older people at home through the co-design of relationship-based care, delivered by self-supporting teams. Our approach is collaborative, people-centred and design-led. We are currently working on planning and developing a small scale pilot in the UK to co-create, prototype, test and refine our proposition.
