STYGA
A movable, ecological, off-the-grid temporary housing unit.
How does it work?
STYGA is intended for situations when humane living conditions are needed but it is not possible to build permanent buildings. This is the case, for example, with seasonal workers in tourism, construction sites or disaster areas.
STYGA is a housing unit that produces its own energy and cleans its own gray water. The unit offers living conditions according to modern standards, without the need to connect the unit to the infra mains. This saves the environment, time and costs.
The unit is modular and can be modified as needed. One unit is a small studio, and several make a bigger house, and individual homes make a common village. When the need for housing ends, the units are taken away and what remains is a clean land.
Currently, the unit is made from a recycled shipping container, but the units can also be made ecologically from wood. The same unit module can also serve as a basis for, for example, a shop, restaurant or counseling center.
Business model: STYGA - living as a service.
Why is it needed?
In the world, more than 1.8 billion people live in inadequate living conditions and it's not right.
Tourism industry employees are tired of sharing their life with 10 dormers in a cramped apartment. Large construction contractors have a need to accommodate hundreds of workers. Rapid housing developments create amplied carbon footprint and further negative impacts on the environment.
The problem is that in many situations and places it is not possible or sensible in the long run to build permanent houses.
STYGA is the most suitable solution when you need high-quality housing in situations where permanent construction is not reasonable.
As the world becomes more urban, the cost of living in big cities rises beyond the reach of many people. As a result of disasters, people are first settled in tents. Then a hammer, nails and a board are given. Returning to normal life will take longer. Instead, we could offer STYGA mobile units where you can start living right away.
How does it improve life?
Home is a basic human right. Too many people have to suffer from poor living conditions because there are no accessible apartments available.
Every person has the right to their own space and peace. It is wrong that a person cannot get to his own space after a working day or that he has to live in shared tents for years as a result of a natural disaster or war.
STYGA is a home for situations when permanent construction is not possible. A person deserves a safe place to live in the midst of seasonal work, command or distress.
A person's or family's sense of security does not depend on the size of the home, but on the fact that it provides human protection when it is needed.
On the other hand, we know that construction takes a lot of energy and resources and destroys lands. With the STYGA solution, we save on infrastructure construction and permanent modification of the land.
