FloaX
FloaX operate by using buoyancy to improve sewerage systerm.
How does it work?
FloaX utilizes buoyancy to act as an automatic water valve switch. When in a stationary position, mosquitoes, insects, and odors are isolated beneath the valve plate and float. When draining, the float rises and water is smoothly discharged. When flooding occurs, the valve plate and float rise together to block the upper drain outlet, reducing the backflow of dirty water.
Why is it needed?
1. According to research statistics, mosquito bites cause 830,000 deaths worldwide each year, making them the deadliest animals.
2. The total amount of water pollution in the country is 2,000 tons per day, with foul odors and some harmful gases for the human body floating in the drainage ditch.
3. Taiwan suffers losses of NT$14.2 billion (approximately USD$495 million) due to water disasters every year, while losses caused by water disasters in other countries can even reach up to billions of dollars. In addition to financial losses, it also affects people's safety and livelihood. It is heart-wrenching when one's hard-built home is flooded.
4. Many drainage covers have low strength and are often neglected for maintenance, resulting in countless accidents.
5. Losing valuable items such as cell phones, loose change, rings, earrings, etc. into the drainage ditch is also a distressing experience.
How does it improve life?
Ditch cover is one of the face of city and also an important part of sewerage systerm. Existing cover causes some issue due to NOT designed and planning. Therefore, we designed FloaX to solve these problems.
