SEET
Supporting refugee women in (re)starting their studies in Switzerland
How does it work?
Education is key to integration, to perspectives, to understanding, to self-realisation and much more. That's why education is so fundamental - and should be accessible to everyone. This is what the association SEET works for: we offer a study support programme for refugees.
Why is it needed?
Why is a student support program needed? Almost all universities offer trial courses for prospective students who have fled. Few of these taster students actually go on to study later. They often find it difficult to find their way in the jungle of university bureaucracy. They also often lack the financial means to obtain the necessary documents for enrollment (e.g. language courses and certificates, diploma translations and recognition). SEET wants to close this supply gap.
How does it improve life?
Numerous cultural, institutional and financial obstacles make it difficult for refugees to (re)commence study in Switzerland. SEET sees itself as a bridge between prospective students and higher education institutions in Switzerland, helping to overcome these obstacles. With its study support program, SEET contributes to the personal strengthening of the self-determination of the funded students. In this way, SEET also supports them in their successful integration into our society. The Swiss population, in turn, benefits from the potential and the unique experience of those who receive funding.
