Ina Vibe
A light-weight, portable hydrogen-powered cooking burner/stove with a thermoelectric generator
How does it work?
A lightweight, portable hydrogen-powered cooking burner/stove with a thermoelectric generator that harnesses heat energy to generate sustainable, affordable and clean electricity. The Ina Vibe has a heat source (hydrogen burner or stove). When ignited, heat is then converted to electricity through the thermoelectric generator. The energy generated is channelled to a USB port for charging mobile phones and LED lights.
Why is it needed?
Over 600 million Africans lack access to electricity, 80 million of these are Nigerians. This forces families and local street food vendors to spend a huge part of their income continuously on fuel like charcoal, firewood, kerosene and the likes for heat and lighting, all off which are unclean sources of energy. Mobile phone use is on the rise too and possessing one entails locating electricity to charge which is even more expensive and difficult to get as most regions are not connected to the power grid or lack constant electricity supply.
How does it improve life?
Ina'Vibe mainly supports the 7th sustainable goal of affordable and clean energy. It produces electricity in a clean and very sustainable way. It reduces the waste of energy lost to heat. It is also an alternative to kerosene lamps reducing the carbon footprint of families dependent on it for lighting.
