CarbonStore
Creation and peatland restoration for a cleaner, greener, low-carbon economy.
How does it work?
CarbonStore is a business stream of Tilhill and works with companies and landowners to design, plant and manage new woodlands or to plan, implement, and oversee peatland restoration projects. which help alleviate climate change. With the combined knowledge and skill sets of Tilhill and Maelor Forest Nurseries, CarbonStore sets industry-leading standards in the supply of young trees, the creation of woodlands, and the marketing of Carbon Units.
Why is it needed?
Afforestation and agro-forestry would play a central role in these land use-related emissions reductions. By increasing UK woodland cover from 13% to at least 17%, through planting 30,000 hectares each year until 2050, our newly planted forests and woodlands would be sequestering 14 Mt CO?e annually by 2050.
How does it improve life?
CarbonStore sets industry-leading standards in carbon-related woodland creation and peatland restoration. Maelor’s extensive research into tree genetics helps our woodlands gain resilience to climate change. The care and expertise of Tilhill’s forest managers and ecologists in woodland creation and management, or peatland restoration has earned an array of industry awards. CarbonStore combines all our attributes to provide an open and transparent platform for companies and landowners to buy and sell Carbon Units while helping companies maximise the benefits associated with woodlands and restoring our peatlands. Our combined award-winning standards benefit everyone.
