Wecup
Wecup engages people to vote on social and cultural issues, while helping to keep the area clean.
Wecup is an interactive, provoking set of installations particularly designed for festivals and open air events and addresses the problem of the considerable amount of waste created here. It addresses a broad audience and engages people to take a public stand on urban, social and cultural issues, while effectively contributing to keep the surroundings clean. Wecup’s innovation consists in making throwing trash a game by engaging people into a challenging competition. The public is invited to vote by adding their empty plastic cups to one of the several tube installations around the area, having to choose in each case between two conflicting statements. The project motivates and facilitates conditions for separating garbage in order for it to be recycled. The project was first presented in the context of the Wereld van het Witte de With Kwartier Festival in Rotterdam in september 2014.
