Brimstone
The world's first carbon-negative Portland cement
How does it work?
Brimstone is building a new foundation for the climate era. They've invented a way to make carbon-negative Portland cement that is identical to conventional cement and lower in cost. Simply put, the process will turn one of the most intractable climate problems into a carbon-negative climate solution.
Why is it needed?
Cement is responsible for about the same amount of greenhouse gas emissions as all of the cars on the road today. Cement has been one of the most difficult materials to decarbonise, until now.
How does it improve life?
Brimstone is on a mission to decarbonise the cement industry. Increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere pose a risk to the livelihoods of all living things on earth. They want to eliminate industrial greenhouse gas emissions by developing technologies to help industries transition faster to carbon neutrality and this starts with cement.
