AIDFI Mechanical Water Kiosk
Cheap and clean water for remote families of the Philippines
How does it work?
In this mechanical water kiosk, 1 PHP buys 20 litres of water, which remote Philippine families can use to drink, feed livestock and wash their clothes. This will ensure a fair water distribution designed to incorporate with the ram pump systems.
Why is it needed?
In the Philippines, 91% of the country’s estimated 100.7 million population have access to at least basic water services; but access is highly inequitable across the country, with regional basic water services access ranging from 62% to 100%. Around 99% of the one-fifth wealthiest households are more likely to have access to basic water services; while only 80% of the poorest quintile do (Unicef)
How does it improve life?
As of June 2021, an AIDFI Mechanical Water Kiosk was on its way to the island of Leyte, where the kiosks will become part of the water distribution in ram pump systems.
