Updropp
One man's trash, another one's electronic device.
How does it work?
What if you could hand in your electronics when you still have to go shopping, pick up the children or run another errand? Updropp's Uptainers are centrally located, so it fits easily into your everyday life. With the Uptainers, users can easily recycle or upcycle the electronics devices they normally don't know how to dispose of. They will either be picked up by fellow citizens or responsibly recycled or upcycled by Updropp.
Why is it needed?
The co2 footprint of electronic products makes up around 3.7% of the world's total emissions. At the same time, e-waste contains a number of toxic materials that pollute water, air and soil. Worldwide, only around 17.4% of all e-waste is properly collected and recycled. It is estimated that 8% of e-waste in high-income countries is thrown directly into the bin.
How does it improve life?
The next step for Updropp is to build the first version and test their Uptainers. They must both test the design of the Uptainer and how people use it. With this, they can learn more about how to build the Uptainers they want to set up around the country.
