How does it work?
PEKILO® is the world’s first commercial mycoprotein, originally developed in Finland in the 1970s. The process has seen more than 15 years of industrial scale operation and the product has been used commercially as a feed ingredient for just as long. PEKILO® is not only locally produced and sustainable but can also compete with the current standard plant-sourced proteins – on price and performance. The product contains 65% crude protein, and a balanced amino acid profile equal or better than that of soy. In addition, it contains up to 20% of ?-glucan, other fibers and smaller amounts of minerals (6%) and fat (1%).

Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Espoo, Finland, eniferBio was born from the dream of five fungi-mad scientists, who saw a unique opportunity in turning a long-forgotten innovation into the future source of sustainable food for millions of people. In May 2022, eniferBio announced a partnership aiming to bring PEKILO® protein directly to the dinner table as a nutritional and mild taste new source of protein for food products.
