HomeKit is a framework in iOS 8 for wirelessly and electronically communicating with and controlling connected accessories in a user’s home, household features, activities, appliances, and more by using Siri, Apple’s intelligent voice assistance. While leveraging Siri by letting you control smart devices with just your voice, it simplifies home automation. Having your house full of smart devices and your smartphone full of the apps for them, the idea behind HomeKit is you will no longer have to use an individual app to control a single smart device in your home, totaling up to several apps for multiple devices, because iPhone (with HomeKit) will be able to control everything that's compatible.
