Walking Wheelchair can take users to standing in a similar motion to an able-bodied person, without a backboard, straps and constraints.Architect Suzanne and her schoolboy son Jarvis invented the Walking Wheelchair in summer 2018. Suzanne saw a children's enterprise competition on Sky News and encouraged Jarvis to enter. The idea was inspired by a man in a wheelchair at the rugby club and influenced by Jarvis's bike saddle. The positive feedback encouraged Suzanne to take it further. The pair have built and patented a prototype that has been reviewed by Stoke Mandeville Hospital and The Back Up Trust.
