Enables closed loop plastic production, aiming at eliminating (not minimizing) waste streams
We often hear about plastic waste post-consumer (plastic bags and straws etc.), but a large proportion is, according to McKinsey studies, generated as residule waste in relation to production of plastic items. This stream can easily be eliminated by closed loop recycling at the production site with many upsides. Producers reduce need for virgin material and thus increase profits / reduce cost of disposal, while vastly reducing CO2 footprint. The technology also enables a future of take-back of old products, increasing the potential recycling from waste streams to the full product volume. The patented technology sinks mixed plastic waste into liquid and make movements in the water to separate plastic type x from y and z providing material with same purity as virgin plastic (+98% purity)
