Consent on the Seesaw
A critical design that explores consent in a relationship
The design is an uncomfortable seesaw, where only one party has influence over the game and the other is kept passive with both legs on the seesaw, is a critical commentary on the upcoming rape legislation.
Through the interaction on the seesaw, both parties experience, on their own bodies, how uncomfortable it is that one has control over the object and the other can only remain passive.
The cold, hard sandblasted aluminium surface contributes to making the interaction a confrontational and unpleasant sensory experience.
Based on her own political and societal commitment, the designer explores how Critical Design can focus on the importance of interaction and consent in a sexual relationship.
