The company was founded in response to the increasing rate of reluctant readers in Denmark and the decline in literacy skills worldwide. The two founders themselves being the fathers of children and seeing at first-hand how children are more consumed with YouTube and video games, they decided to create a reading app that puts recognition and motivation as key components in building reading skills to children. Maneno aims to provide new reading experiences to kids by embracing gamification and the technological capabilities offered as a result of continuous innovation from leading technology providers and provide kids with tools that help facilitate learning as they embark on their reading journey.
