Furniture for the Visually Impaired
This is a high contrast color furniture collection designed for the visually impaired.
Over 3 million people in Thailand (over 1.3 billion worldwide) experience impaired vision, which makes their everyday lives harder. So Homepro developed the 7:1 Furniture Collection - a new kind of furniture that responds to the daily living needs and functions of these people, while still appealing to those without visual impairment. Using a 7:1 color contrast ratio (hence the name) - it is a contrast level that makes an object most accessible to people with a visual disability. Designer BBDO used an international vision enhancement method by W3C organization, which makes content or object visible at Level AAA standard (the highest level of visibility). In addition to the color contrast, a specially-designed outline system was developed to provide the furniture with a particular shape that identifies the function to its user. Combined with color-contrast design, the design system brings what was barely visible back into full vision.
