VR: Resuscitation of a COVID-19 Patient
This VR video shows you the best practices for treating COVID-19 patients
A digital design specialist at the Annenberg School for Communication created a 360-degree virtual reality video demonstrating COVID-19 treatment practices in order to prepare medical staff in remote locations to respond to a possible spike in cases. Virtual reality is an immersive technology that benefits medical personnel by generating a 3D, interactive environment in settings that are often hard to simulate with 2D graphics, according to the video, which was filmed in the Emergency Department at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Through operation on a mannequin, the video depicts a doctor treating a COVID-19 patient suffering from respiratory failure. Although the video is available to everyone, it was made specifically for healthcare providers who have been exposed to high levels of critically ill COVID-19 patients. Medical staff can watch the video on YouTube and Annenberg's website through a computer screen or with a virtual reality headset.
