Jamii.one
A digital platform that revolutionises group saving in low-income communities to help them reach their financial goals.
Around 1 billion low-income people worldwide struggle to access formal financial services. Unable to save or take loans from banks, they form community savings groups. Instead of saving up individually, group members save together and provide one another with vital financial services, such as loans and insurance. These groups exist in various iterations but one thing remains consistent: they provide immense social and financial value to their members and wider communities. Our social entrepreneurship, Jamii.one, offers technology for these savings groups, to maximize the impact they create. Our technology, which includes an app, digitalises the group’s accounting practices, improving the efficiency of groups, reducing errors and group conflict, and creating a pathway to financial inclusion for each user. Our app is a tool for groups to access what they need most, whether that be automated share-out calculations, a digital identity or extra capital from formal financial services to finance their micro- and small-business enterprises. Jamii.one also teaches groups digital and business skills, fostering entrepreneurship in low-income communities and empowering them to improve their future. By strengthening community savings groups with technology built to meet their needs, Jamii.one aims to lift communities out of poverty at scale.
