Bucket Washing Machine
A bucket washing machine to meet needs and desires of women from rural India
A vast majority of women in India devote a large proportion of each day to manual laundry work due to the unaffordability of washing machines. At home, most Indian people use a bucket for washing typically with a cloth brush. The work is laborious, energy consuming and harms the skin on their hands. This has prompted the invention of the easy-to-use, crank operated Bucket Washing Machine. Relatively inexpensive for an average Indian household this new product frees up energy and time. The Bucket Washing machine was designed by Indian people for Indian people. The mechanical solutions were suggested by a group of mechanical engineers and craftsmen in Delhi to meet needs and desires of women from rural India, professional laundry washers and others.
