Covid-19 Moonshot is a global project with scientists from all over the world trying to find a cheap and safe antiviral to combat Covid-19. Antivirals help treat you when you're sick, as opposed to vaccines, which prevent you from getting sick. While on the surface, a vaccine would be more effective, they also take longer to develop and are several times more expensive. With the world being affected on a global scale, humanity has to unite and combat the disease in all the ways it can, as relying on solely vaccines might not be enough. While the scientists in this project have agreed to work for this cause, the materials needed to test and develop the antiviral still cost money, and as this is a crowd-funded initiative, the project needs all the help it can get.
