Sustainable outdoor kitchen reusing water from the sink for the hydroponic herb garden.
''Mae'' is an outdoor kitchen designed for the urban environment, specifically for the terrace . The goal of the kitchen is to create a bridge between city and nature. The kitchen creates a harmonious and beautiful exterior environment through its natural materials and herb garden that are balanced perfectly with the use of high technology. The hydroponic herb “garden” is hung on the structure as well as other containers. There are two pipes coming from the water pump underneath the sink that pump water in and out of the hydroponic container. The water tank collects wasted water from the part of the sink that is used for rinsing, filters it and then it's reused. The water pump behind the water tank pumps up the filtered water up to the hydroponic herbs container. The container is made in transparent plastic in order to be able to see the roots of the plants inside the water to emphasize the idea of an honest and eco-friendly kitchen, and the plants grow free out of the container.
