Growing Furniture
Growing Funiture is a table grown out of sawdust and mushrooms and leave a minimum footprint
Vermland studio and joinery produce a minimum of four
big containers of sawdust each week due to our local
production of furniture.
This is the case for every wood workshop world wide
Mycelium gives us the opportunity to turn sawdust into
recycled high-end sustainable furniture instead of
waste.
With this project, we want to encourage other workshops
and biowaste industries to do the same.
The table is currently exhibited at DAC - Danish Architecture Center as a part of the exhibition 'Re-use, Re-duce, Re-cycle'.
Biomaterials grown from mycelia have the potential to replace materials and components in the building industry and ideally, we'll and up growing our own houses out of 100% sustainable materials.
