Seaweed wrap
Completely recyclable wrap that enables temperature and fragile control through food transport.
If we need to prevent package waste, we need to use materials which are sustainable and renewable. The challenge was to develop a fully recyclable low cost envelope with thermal and fragile protection for use in the food transport channel.
Seaweed wrap is made of dry seaweed and paper.
Seaweed is a natural, sustainable product which has really good insulating and heat holding capacity. It reproduces itself every year in the sea, comes ashore without any effort from humans, and it is dried by sun and wind. Seaweed, with its ability to absorb and give off moisture, creates excellent preserving atmosphere.
Seaweed wrap is light for transport and good for the environment in a broader sense (CO2-reducing, environmentally friendly and sustainable). It is easily adapted to required packaging shapes. Because it is completely made of natural materials it is recyclable and valuable as compost and mulch.
