The Designer i me, Christian Lauchenauer. I am 28 years old and studied Industrial Design in Basel at the University of Applied Sciences, Northwestern Switzerland Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst, both in bachelor's and master's degree. I completed my Master's degree at the end of July 2017. Now I am working as an industrial designer at Erdmann Design AG for a little more than a year. The office works primarily with the principle of Human Centered Design.

Bike-me
On Bike-me you can take a ride with your bike on a lake. It is a mix of a boat, raft and pedalboat.
The alignment and construction of Bike-me are reminiscent of a catamaran on a
calm lake. In addition, the pedal mechanism with gear transmission is equipped with a drive with rudder for the control system derived from the conventional mechanics of the pedal boats.
With Bike-me it is possible to jet from A to B, because the two bicycles with the rear wheels stand on rollers which drive a motion conversion unit with dynamo that translates to the boat propeller. If I'm on the bike-me in pairs, I can reach an estimated speed of up to 11 knots, i.e. about 20 km/h. The ride can also be approached less sportive and you use the inviting bench seat to rest and enjoy the lake.
With a steering movement of the bicycle you steer the boat.
Bike-me is available as a rental system within a network of restaurants, bathing establishments and/or boatyards. The system would be integrated into a map system of an app, where bicycle routes at and on the lake could be planned individually.
