DHOOP KINAARE
It is a reflection of two major lifelines of Banaras: boat building and sari weaving.
“Dhoop Kinaare”, which means River edge, depicts the art and culture of Banaras. It is a reflection of two major lifelines of Banaras: boat building and sari weaving. The beautifully handcrafted Banarasi sari fabric floating over the casted aluminum boat has a story to narrate about the slowly vanishing craft of silk weaving in that region. The Banaras weavers have been handcrafting silk sarees since decades and it is a thriving industry of the area and it’s waste scrap, all the extra materials which don’t make it to the final piece were recycled to use for this product. The boat has been casted with aluminum and replicated a boat at a river edge/port. Wooden ledge was polished and designed for the base of the product. The extremely well crafted details of the luminaries add a soothing charm to the interiors.
