AlmenarUI
teaching radiology students with AR/VR
AlmenarUI is a physical user interface designed for radiology within virtual reality and augmented reality. The work of a radiologist consists of analyzing scans from Ultrasound, MRI, and CT to identify anomalies within the scanned tissue. This process generally occurs inside rooms that are darkened, similar to a movie theater. Prolonged exposure to these dark conditions has been shown to negatively affect the radiologists. AlmenarUI recreates this dark room in virtual space, creating a more dynamic, responsive and ultimately healthier environment in which to analyze scans. The interface combines digital and physical elements to provide a video game-like experience that can be done alone or in collaboration with other medical professionals.
