The Neighbour Hub
an organizing point for communities before and after a natural disaster
The Neighbour Hub is a public structure designed to provide an organizing point for communities before and after a natural disaster. The structure provides a nerve center that can be inserted into public parks. The Neighbour Hub offers drinking water and electricity to local residents on a daily basis and can also act as a back-up supply when existing resources are compromised due to damaged infrastructure. Inspired by the constant threat of earthquakes in the city of Vancouver, the project seeks to encourage the city's citizens to develop earthquake plans and enhance relationships in the process. As part of a system of engaging public infrastructure, The Neighbour Hub seeks to build resilient behavior by providing off-grid resources and sparking conversations about disaster preparedness.
