Montados is a lid/ coaster made from recycled cork. It functions like a wide and very versatile wine cork. It is a flat cylinder, which has grooves on both sides, contrary to each other. These are 30 mm wide to fit all glasses and containers. The elasticity of the material allows any glass to fit one of the sides. Cork’s amazing material properties, such as the thermal insulation and a pleasant touch make it the best material to use and allow it to work universally. Moreover, it can also be used as a coaster or a union joint of two containers. To also cover bigger bowls, I Montados comes in three sizes. The different sizes can be put together to allow a playful approach and to make sure the combination of container and lid looks proportional. My goal was to substitute single use aluminum foil and plastic wrap with a natural, sustainable and practical alternative.
