EPIBONE
EpiBone grows durable living bones from the stem cells extracted from the patient's own body.
Every year, some 900,000 Americans undergo bone-related surgery, and the process to recovery is slow and painful. If bone from another body is placed in the body, there is possibility that it can carry disesases, and grafts from the patient’s own body can still be rejected and cause a painful infection, and even lead to nerve damage. EpiBone aims to eliminate this slow and painful process by extracting stem cells out of fat tissue taken from the patient’s body and then engineering living tissues from the patient’s own cells to create durable, living bone crafts in 3 weeks as of now.
