The Vessel
Charity projects which aim to empower communities through lighting design & solar power training.
Around 600 million people in Africa cannot access or afford electricity which forces them to rely on hazardous lighting alternatives such as kerosene lamps & candles. The Vessel is a series of charity projects focused on training local communities about lighting & solar energy to increase their employment potential while creating enjoyable spaces through design. Following the technical training, each project is finalised with practical delivery of a solar-based lighting design scheme at a chosen community space or architecture. Creating a pleasant atmosphere through solar lighting ranks very low in the priority list of energy companies which only focus on utilitarian products. The Vessel projects demonstrate the social impact of good design by delivering lighting projects which create sustainable communities both through the means of knowledge and energy. The aim is to promote the global importance of design and improve quality of life by delivering projects with lasting effect.
