Living community patterns
exploratory strategies for a sustainable San Francisco
The team found that in terms of energy, water, and food production, San Francisco can nearly achieve net-zero goals if high-levels of efficiency are achieved through time as buildings and infrastructure are retrofitted and updated. On the neighborhood side, the project team developed 12 patterns ranging from Blue-Green Streets to Urban Rewilding. The project team applied these patterns to two San Francisco neighborhoods, Noe Valley and Chinatown, as case-studies for their use effectiveness.
