ALLY WEARABLE DEVICE
A wearable device monitoring sexual assault survivors´ recovery
1 in 4 men and women will experience some form of sexual assault in their life times. Current products on the market focus solely on the impact phase of sexual assault, most commonly the rape alarm. The reconstitution phase of an assault can last from 2 months to 3 years. The discrete wearable device uses Electrodermal Activity (EDA) Sensors. Electrodermal activity , is the property of the human body that causes continuous variation in the electrical characteristics of the skin. EDA is highly responsive to emotions in most people. Fear, anger, startled response, orienting response, and sexual feelings are among the reactions that may be reflected in EDA. Two electrodes on the base of the wearable monitor the sweat levels on the skins surface. This data is then transferred to the Ally app interface, which then displays the wearers emotions visible by the user, the counsellor and loved ones, under the users discretion.
