CENTRO University is a higher education institution that specializes in the professionalization of creativity. In 2015, CENTRO's campus was relocated to a privileged but socially complex area of the city, which has suffered the negative effects of urban renewal and sprawl. In this context, the Social Design Hub provides place-based education opportunities, resulting in the co-design and delivery of activities in collaboration between experts, faculty members, students and neighbors.

Social Design Hub CENTRO
Co-designing projects with social value with our neighbors.
Since 2015, CENTRO University created the Social Design Hub, a continual project transversal to all our undergraduate and graduate programs. The Hub promotes the development of design projects with social value, raising awareness of the potential of creative professionals to affect positive social change. This initiative links faculty and students with real life problems and communities in order to design and implement joint solutions that impact our student’s personal and professional development, and the quality of life of communities around us. One of the Hub's key functions is working with CENTRO's neighboring communities, with the aim of generating an exchange, building links and strengthening them from different angles (urban, economic, social, cultural, etc.) so as to contribute to the security and integration of the residents of the area. The Hub creates activities and workshops that are open to students, teachers and employees from CENTRO as well as our neighbors.
