Food Spectrometer and App
Turn food waste awareness into action. Better the quality of health of living organisms on earth.
We believe that there have been ample amounts of awareness projects and tv segments, but now is the time for a product that will turn awareness into action. The most novel solution is a spectroscopic sensor that you can put in a fridge (compatible with nearly all fridges) and an accompanying app. The sensor will detect what is inside your fridge and compile ingredients to display to you which meals you are able to make. In addition, the sensor detects which products in your fridge are labeled as “about to expire.” It then detects if the listed expiration date truly matches the current state of the food, telling you of it is still good to eat after the expiration. This is done by a biochemical spectroscopy method in conjunction with chemometrics. The sensor will emit light at specific wavelengths and emit them towards the food heading towards expiration. The food will send back a certain set of data that will be processed for what chemicals are predominantly in the food.
