Jupiter Light Vessel
Trash to Treasure: Transforming Discarded Cling Wraps into Light Vessels
Industrial pollution is a prevalent problem in our world today. A major contributor to this issue is industrial cling wrap – often castoff and rarely recycled. The challenge is thus to redefine the current perception of industrial waste so that they can be valued as materials of potential rather than trash. Such encourages a sustainable ecosystem where cling wraps are reintroduced back into the consumption cycle.
Interestingly, pre-loved industrial cling wrap maintain a crinkled texture created naturally after the packaging process. Furthermore, by baking layers of crinkled wrap at a specific temperature and pressure, it transmutes into a medium that maintains thermoplastic properties while preserving its distinct texture prior to the transformation.
As the material’s translucency is exceptionally appealing when lit, bearing close resemblance to the surface of the gas giant Jupiter, it therefore becomes an ideal light diffusing shade.
