Raaji was designed as an animated cartoon series in 2017 to talk to young girls in Pakistan abt taboo topics such as honor killings, child abuse, sexual harassment, child marriages, menstruation, and to inspire them to take up activities such as cycling, boxing, self-defense. After receiving an incredible responsible with our mobile screenings in schools, hostels and community centers in rural areas of Pakistan, we decided to extend the concept to an app that allows girls to converse one-on-one with this beloved character from the safety and convenience of their homes. Raaji has already received 10,000+ interactions on its demo & continues to be downloaded by girls in Pakistan when they want to speak on a topic that they cannot discuss with their sisters, mother, teachers or friends. So far, girls have asked questions abt birth control, safe sex, divorce etc. Raaji won The Pollination Project grant, The Do School prize & was awarded the Manthan South Asian Award 2018.
