According to numerous studies a significant portion of the world's streams, lakes and rivers are heavily polluted. Designed to address this problem, Jbin is a smart and aesthetically pleasing device with the capabilities to autonomously and easily clean rivers and other bodies of water. Inspired by marine creatures such as the jellyfish, it consists of a dome, a central body, a propeller, a filter and a system for anchoring it to the waterbed. Exploiting the water flow, the propeller rotates a helix inside the central body, thus creating a vortex that draws in the litter floating on the surface. At the base of the vortex the water continues flowing down through a filter containing the bacteria for purification, returning cleaner water to the flow of the river. An electro mechanical system allows the air chamber contained in the central body be filled or emptied according to the need, making the waterline rise up or down.
