Luci®, an inflatable solar light, was invented with the goal of making an affordable clean energy product that people could use in any situation — from outdoor camping adventures to backyard parties to everyday living for people in underserved communities without electricity. The majority of those living in energy poverty are often forced to rely on kerosene after sunset – a dim, toxic and costly fuel that's hazardous to personal safety, health and the environment. In fact, the use of fuel-based lighting results in a completely avoidable 244 metric tons of CO2 being emitted each year – the same amount produced by 30 million cars. For the three billion people living in energy poverty, when the sun sets, everything stops.
