The Lab.our Ward Innovation Project brings together product, service and architectural design, in collaboration with maternal health experts, to rethink the birth experience in low-resource settings. Through innovations that can be applied to new and existing health facilities, the project aims to improve the quality of care from the perspectives of women and care providers. Ultimately, The Lab.our Ward Innovation Project aims to have a positive impact on health outcomes for mothers and newborns. The vision of the project is to design a model to enable a smoother and safer maternal and newborn care journey, by focusing on the experience of care. This means that by designing carefully the experience of a woman giving birth through looking at the space, the products and the services a woman comes in touch with, we may be able to improve health outcomes for both the mother and the newborn.
