Hygge Factory unites young people that share a common life experience in talent- and empathy developing projects where they meet in a creative community. Supported by volunteers, artists and a strong network of partners and professionals, they co-create a professional and sellable art product (such as a book, a record, or a movie) based on their personal stories – whether they are about the loss of a parent, growing up with alcoholism, loneliness, eating disorders, or cultural diversity.

The Hygge Factory Model - A scalable social innovation empowering youth to co-create professional art products based on their personal experiences
Hygge Factory empowers youth to create professional art products based on their personal experiences
The Hygge Factory Model is an award-winning project based educational model, that after a three-year long collaboration with The Danish Ministry of Culture is fully developed, thoroughly tested, and ready to be scaled. The model is based on one-on-one collaboration between youth and volunteers, a strong focus on proces and product, a theme for the design of the art product, input from creative professionals and artists, and public events. The model expands the young people’s network and challenges them to express themselves individually while also being part of a supportive creative community of other youths and adults. The model gives youth ownership of the creative proces, the opportunity to collaborate and meet across age, geography, ethnicity, social boundaries, and professions, insight into the creative process from idea to finished product, and a strong voice to tell their personal stories. Every project results in a professional and sellable product. All proceeds are reinvested.
